So many facets of Newfoundland were incredibly beautiful, but so much was also very “rustic” and “fishy” with lobster pots and fish drying in the open air. But we were determined to find some information about Jeff’s mother. We soon found that all of the records were in St. John, another seven hour drive across the “island”. That wasn’t going to happen. Remember, there was no internet, Google, Maps or Chrome (I mean there weren’t even computers at this time!)
We had a lovely time, Jeff drove to Gros Morne (alone) and I hung out at a cheap hotel with my still nursing baby. Then it was a three day trip back to Moravia, NY. That was the end of the story until 2013 and our discoveries through Ancestry DNA!
